          THE HOUSE

The First Floor

From the sitting-room, a few steps through a small corridor (with a small window overlooking the forge) lead to the first floor, which comprises three bedrooms and an airy  family bathroom.

The Bathroom The  good-sized tiled bathroom  is equipped with basin, mirror, shelves, bath tub with overhead shower, toilet, first-aid kit and  bathroom scales.

The Master Bedroom This is a spacious, romantic bedroom with a window overlooking the front of the house and a peacefully bucolic view over the fields across the road; it is  furnished with pine double bed, lovely Chinese rug, bedside tables and table lamps, wooden wardrobe, chest of drawers and two chairs (up to two travel cots are available if requested).

The Second Bedroom

This is another good-sized bedroom with lovely views over luscious fields and  furnished with pine twin beds, bedside tables and table lamps,  wardrobe, closed-up fireplace and painted wooden floorboards.

The Third Bedroom This is a  cosy bedroom with lovely old dark wood floorboards and furnished with pine bunk beds, chair, wooden wardrobe, shelf and lamp (please note: this bedroom has no external window).

The Gardens

 "La Vieille Forge" has not one, but two gardens, which can be considered one of the gite's  main attractions.

The Courtyard   The Well

The Courtyard  The house is accessed through a peaceful, secluded gravelled courtyard with lots of plants and fruits trees, and a well (which is closed-up, thus  perfectly secure for children), and  furnished with a wooden picnic table and a portable barbeque. This garden is fully fenced-up and very private, as it is away from the road.

There is also a separate, sunny garden with well-established plants, roses and fruit trees (peaches, apples, plums), and furnished with garden table and chairs and two sun loungers.  This garden is also fully enclosed and offers lots of space for the children to run around or for peaceful relaxation.

"La Vieille Forge" also offers a  spacious garage for secure parking, as well as additional easy parking at the front of the house.

Facilities

All bedding is provided (duvets and blankets, sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases), as are tea-towels in the kitchen and small hand-towels in the bathroom.  Also provided are hot water bottle, sewing materials, shoe polish, first aid kit, bathroom scales, washing-up liquid and washing powder.

Radio/CD/cassette player, as well as table games, puzzles and playing cards, books in English and French, are provided for your entertainment.

Portable barbeque and a picnic basket with plastic crockery and cutlery, a cool bag and a picnic rug.

Exercise bike if you wish to keep fit.

Two travel cots with plastic-covered mattresses, sheets and cotton blankets; high chair, foldable playpen, changing mat and room thermometer. 

The house is fitted with two smoke alarms, fire blanket and fire extinguisher.

"La Vieille Forge" is a non-smoking home.

Pets are welcome and are sure to have a good time in the beautiful Berry countryside.

A few meters from the house is a small playground with swings and a slide.

Public swimming pool, water sports, lakeside beaches and golf between 10 and 25 km away. Grocery shop and bar in Vijon; supermarkets, restaurants, doctors, vets, etc. at 10-15 km.
